Outreach Ministries

If you would like to donate to, or participate in, a local outreach program, send us an email at outreach@sthelenas.net.

A list of upcoming community events is here.

In addition to the parish-based ministries listed below, St. Helena's hosts several community groups that regularly meet on our campus.  More information about them is provided here; their meeting times are included on our Weekly Offerings page.

Please call the church office for phone and email contact information where not shown below.

  • A Walk in Bethlehem

As you enter the city, allow the sights, sounds and smells to carry you to a period of time that changed the world. Journey through the heart of the city after being counted for the census. Collect your denarii (provided before entrance)  and enter the marketplace that is bustling with activity from over a dozen authentic shops; enjoy samples from the baker’s shop, marvel at the potter’s, carpenter’s  & basket weaver’s crafts and listen for the rumor of a king’s birth from excited townspeople.  The highlight of the event will be the arrival of the Christ Child and a traditional nativity scene including camels and Magi. • Blessings In A Backpack

St. Helena's partners with the non-profit organization Blessings In A Backpack by donating peanut butter, canned chicken and canned turkey to keep Boerne children fed during the weekends. Donations are collected the second Sunday of each month. Please leave your donations at the entrance of your service or at the mission station (in the parking lot end of the Parish Hall entrance).

  • Fifth Sunday at Menger Springs

When there is a 5th Sunday in the month, St. Helena's sends a Eucharistic Minister / Visitor to do a service at 3:30 p.m. for the residents at Menger Springs, complete with bulletins.  Contact: Judy McGrew

  • Fishin' for Mission

An annual fishing tournament is held inviting the entire Diocese of West Texas. Proceeds for the tournament are used for World Mission efforts within the Diocese. Contact: Mike Glick

  • Fresh Fruits & Vegetables

St. Helena's collects fresh fruit and veggies for Hill Country Family Services, helping to keep Boerne families fed.  Donations are collected the third Sunday of each month. Please leave your donations at the entrance of your service or at the mission station (in the parking lot end of the Parish Hall entrance). Contact: Kitty Chung

  • Messiah Sing-along

Bring your score and sing with us, or just come to listen.  No rehearsal required.  We sing the Christmas portion (Part I) of Handel's Messiah, plus the Hallelujah Chorus. This annual event is held at 3:00 P. M. on the Sunday after Christmas, in the Historic Sanctuary.  Contact: Whit Matteson (choir@sthelenas.net)

  • Outreach Committee

The Committee's purpose is to empower groups and individuals within St. Helena's to carry out mission work in our community, our diocese, and the world.  There's a list of upcoming outreach events here.

  • Welcome Committee

Dedicated to giving our Sunday visitors a warm welcome by offering them a bag with information about St. Helena’s, and contact information. Ushers hand visitors one of these bags and a Visitor’s card and encourage them to fill it out and drop it in the offertory so that we might further welcome them with a letter and phone call. Visitors are urged to drop into the Welcome Center for a hot cup of coffee and conversation with our parishioners on Sunday mornings.  Contact: outreach@sthelenas.net
